(S) Start at the Scarborough Tourist Information Point opposite Peasholm Park. Take the Scarborough Railway or walk through Northstead Manor Gardens past the Open Air Theatre (you could explore the remains of Mr Marvel's Amusement Park on the hill above the theatre).
(1) The first stop on this walk is the Sea Life Centre next to Scalby Mills Station. From the Sea Life Centre turn right and walk along the promenade.
(2) You will see lots of colourful beach huts. Next to this is the remains of the chair lift which took visitors up to the amusement park. If you walked from the tourist information point you will have passed these on the way.
(3) Continue walking along Royal Albert Drive (promenade), you may wish to spend time on the North Bay Beach. You will pass the Freddy Gilroy Sculpture sitting on a bench on the seafront. Continue walking around the headland, look up to see the castle on the hill. You will now be on Marine Drive, but still following the Cleveland Way/England Coast Path.
(4) Marine Drive was originally a toll road and as you approach the harbour you will see the Toll House. At the entrance tot he harbour is the Luna funfair. Beyond this you can walk along the pier or around the harbour if you wish. At the end of the Vincent Pier is the Lighthouse and Diving Belle Statue. Boat trips also leave from here. Continue into Sandside passing the harbour on your left and cafes and shops on your right. You will then pass the West Pier on your left. Continue onto Foreshore Road.
(5) Turn right onto Bland's Cliff at Coney Island Amusments and walk up to the old town.
(6) Cross the road and walk towards the market hall. Feel free to explore the market. Turn right at the end of the market hall into Saint Sepulchre Street (you can exit the rear of the market hall here too). Continue into Princess Square and then Princess Street.
(7) At the end of Princess Street, turn left and then right into Castle Gardens. At the end of Castle Gardens go up the steps and continue onto the footpath and then turn right walking up the path towards the castle entrance.
(8) The path should emerge onto the road leading to the castle gatehouse. When you have visited the castle, return to the gatehouse and continue walking down Castle Road.
(9) Turn right into Queen's Parade. You will have lovely views down to the North Bay to your right. Continue to the end of Queen's Parade turning left at the end and then right into Peasholm Road, this will lead you back to the entrance to Peasholm Park and the information point (E).
