Redwick Circular Walk

A pleasant mix of rural footpaths and a refreshing coastal walk. Many stiles and narrow footbridges to cross, however, fields can be very muddy throughout winter. Limited car parking opposite Redwick Church.

Look out for the distinct Redwick Circular Walk Waymark Disc.

Start at Redwick Church.

(S/E) Start at church gates and follow the path through the churchyard to the small paddock at the rear of the church to a roadside stile.

(1) Turn left onto the road and after a short distance look for a fingerpost on right. Follow the footpath through a field gate and continue along the field path towards the sea wall. Walk up onto the sea wall.

(2) Turn right and follow the footpath towards Porton House. Follow waymarks and head inland across a series of footbridge until reaching a stile leading you onto a track.

Join the footpath on the right and follow the waymarked path over a series of footbridges towards Llanwern pipeline. Useful Information

Look out for the distinct Redwick Circular Walk Waymark Disc.

The ancient church of St. Thomas the Apostle is unusually large for a parish church on the Caldicot and Wentloog Levels. The church has a full-immersion baptistry, unique medieval stone carvings and a fine Victorian pipe organ salvaged from two previous churches. On the ancient south porch is a mark indicating the flood level caused by the Bristol Channel flood, 1607.

Disappointing walk. Difficult to follow the route description right from the start. Walk is partly across furrowed fields deep in grass which are hard to cross. One field has grown maize so the route can't be followed and part is through some barns with no clear route.. A lot of the bridges and stiles are surrounded by brambles and stinging nettles and not well kept.
