Description

Park your car at Carn Galver mine car park.

(S/E) Go down the path next to the ruins leading to a stone stile next to a metal gate. Continue towards a second gate which reaches the South West Coast path close to Porthmoina Cove below.

(1) Bear right, follow the ascending footpath (Bosigran NT signpost) until you reach Bosigran Castle Settlement, an Iron Age cliff castle. Walk along the wall (from the old castle) and continue slightly down until the coast path reaches the gorgeous Porthmeor Cove.

(2) Go through the stile, then go down a few steps and cross the footbridge over the stream. Keep going along the coastal path (follow the arrow), walk a grassy section overlooking Gurnard's Head along a low wall on you right. Head towards the headland (you can walk until the end if you want but be careful to the cliff edge!)

(3) From the headland, leave the coast path and follow the "public footpath Treen 1/2" signpost leading to an open field past a stone stile. Continue ascending the grassy path along fields until you reach a gate close to the yellow pub.

(4) At crossroads next to the pub, bear right onto the B3306 road for 500 metres before you turn right to the footpath (yellow arrow) which enters the meadow. Go past next to the standing stone, then go through a stile across the farm and continue down towards houses you can see below.

(5) At the junction past the stream (used to turn water wheels in the past), you can make a quick way and return if you want to know about this old working site (remains of a dressing floor where the tin ore was broken down by hand...). Continue straight from this junction (ignore remains on the right path so) following the path which leads to another farm. Skirt right side the buildings, continue for one kilometre until the path joins open meadows overlooking the sea.

(6) When you catch sight of the first cove far away you saw at the beginning (Porthmoina Cove), bear slightly left towards a non-well-marked path joining the first stile you went through. Ascend the rocky path and you are back to the car park. (S/E)
