(S/E) From the large layby/pullin, turn left (South-West) on the main road, cross the bridge and walk following it up the hill.
(1) As the road curves right, cross the road with care, turn left (North-East) at the road junction. Walk a few 40 meters to pick up a designated footpath, as marked on your left. Follow the path through the woodland and up the valley (North-East), to where the track meets another.
(2) Turn right (South-East-East), and continue walking up the track (South-East), with getting nearer to Mount Hawke the track improves. Walk straight ahead for around 800 m to a road junction.
(3) At the junction, turn left, and left again to follow the main road through Mount Hawke, there is a pavement, and see some of the old miner's cottages. Walk past Mount Hawke Surgery and the old church on your left.
(4) Past this old Church and red telephone box, keep left on the road, and continue down the hill out of the village (Banns Road) for around 300m.
(5) On the left, look out for another designated path and follow. Walk down through the wooded area and follow a stream on your right-hand side for around 800 m. As the slope levels out, see the "wishing tree" and "Madron Well" a "Cloutie Well".
Walk through the wooded area, which can become slippery and wet underfoot looking out for a bridge on your right over the stream.
Cross the stream and continue down through the woodland with the water on your left always keeping straight back to the start (S/E)
