Description

Park your car at Wellington Hill next to Epping Forest Visitor Centre and Kings Oak Pub.

(S/E) Head to the road leading to the visitor centre and turn left to the path before the "ten miles per hour" speed limit road sign. Bear right after the pound following the main large path (Epping Forest Centenary Walk).

(1) Go straight at the first junction for 150 metres, then turn left at the right angle to the path which joins Epping New Road after 300 metres (be careful crossing this traffic road!). Cross over the road, go past Mount Pleasant car park taking slightly right. Follow the main path for almost half a mile before you bear right at the fork for a few metres.

(2) At the next junction, ignore the arrow on the right but go down the path on your left until you join Baldwins Pond.

(3) From the pond, descend along Loughton Brook on your right (it can be muddy during wet conditions!) keep the left side of the stream for half a mile before you reach a footbridge.

(4) Cross it, leave the stream on your left and go slightly up. Avoid fallen trees, then keep right when you see two isolated huts. It's not easy to find your way during this small section but notice that you need to keep the stream on your left until you join a large marked path (Three Forest Way). Cross over this main path, then go up straight ahead.

(5) Go across a small plain and cross a footbridge over Kate's Cellar. Continue up the path in Broom Hill following yellow arrows for almost half a mile. The path levels and you finally reach Epping New Road. Cross over the road (be careful!), go through the gate leading to the main path on the right. Continue straight for 600 metres before you reach a junction. Bear left and continue straight for 100 metres before you bear left again. The path goes past Epping Forest Visitor Center going back to the car park.(S/E)
