Description

(S) From Tuer Way, Inkberrow, go down the grassy path North with back the gardens right. Take the stile and go with the hedge left for 70 paces, then 25 paces diagonally right to the hedge end, bear left to go with hedge left to the road (Stonehouse Farm).

(1) Turn right at the road and go 250 paces to find the footpath left just before the house, follow the path into the sports field, go with the hedge left to find the field corner stile. Cross the stile and go with the hedge left for 40 paces to find and take a mid fence stile.

Go ahead with the hedge right through two fields to cross road continuing with the hedge and fence left. At the bend in the field take the tricky stile in the corner. Head diagonally down the field to the bottom corner to take the stile onto the road.

(2) Go right 10 paces and take the stile right. Go straight up the slope (probably the steepest on the whole trail) to find a stile at the top of the hill (look back at the view). Take the stile and go left around the field edge with the hedge left.

On coming to a gate left you can go the other side of the hedge, otherwise continue to far field corner gate. Take the gate, follow the grassy track and after 30 paces find the gates right. Take the gate and go ahead with the hedge left to the corner of the field. At the field corner go right 20 paces to take the kissing gate left, passing a pond left, into long narrow thicket. Continue ahead to eventually exit by a 3 bar fence stile to the field.

(3) Turn left and cross the field to the right of a large tree to a stile. Cross the stile and go with the hedge right to the gated bridge in the corner of the field. Cross the bridge and go 1/2 right to find double a gated bridge by telegraph pole.

Take the stile and go with the hedge right to find the corner gate right by a cottage with thatched roof. Take the gate and keep directly ahead, not straying into the private garden, to the road.

(4) Cross the road, over the stile to the right of a driveway, into a cottage yard then into the field. Go with the hedge right to the corner scrub. Go up the short incline to take the hidden gate and go ahead. At the field corner go left 50 paces to find a gate right. Take the gate and go through long tree lined path with the hedge right to come to and take the gate to a road.

(5) Turn right onto the road and follow to Big Bouts Farm. Take the farm drive and follow the track round right then through the gate. Ignore the next gate immediately right and follow the track left, with the hedge right, until you reach another gate ahead. Ignore this next gate ahead and veer left following our green waymarker down to reach a green metal 5 bar gate at end of the track. Just before reaching the gate bear 1/2 left with the hedge right to find a new gated wooden bridge in the hedge line.

(6) Take the bridge to cross the stream and then go half right to the waymarked large metal gate. Stay across the next field to cross the stile/wooden bridge over the ditch. Follow left around the garden/paddock between the hedge and wire fence, noting the pond and jetty right. Take the stile ahead, then with the ditch left go ahead 20 paces to take another stile left.

Go right with the hedge right to find and take the corner fence stile. Go 1/2 left to the mid fence stile. Take the stile and go right through a large coppice to find stile to the road.

(7) Turn left on the road and after 200 paces take a wide gap left opposite waymarkers. Follow the path with the hedge on the right. 80 paces before the field end take a narrow gated gap in the hedge. Go through the gap and go with the hedge left, passing a Gas Compound on the left to a gate. Take the gate and follow the track to the gate to the road.

(8) Cross the road and take the stile to go ahead with the hedge right, pass through 5 fields maintaining line (note at a bridge with numerous waymarks continue ahead). Eventually come to a kissing gate leading to a passageway to the road.

(9) Go left on the road to a T junction. Turn right to pass side of Nevill Arms pub to main the road. Cross the main road and take the stile left of a gas sub station. Go with the hedge left to exit the field by a stile to the wood. Through the wood and exit by a stile into a field. Go 1/2 right to find a fence and go with the fence right to find a mid fence stile. Take the stile and make your way through wood to exit by a new gate onto downhill slope.

Go downhill through trees with the gully to the right to the lower field and bend left round the base of the field mound to find a track against the hedge, to the corner gate. Take the gate and go right down the track to find a gate. Take the gate and cross the driveway to the further gate. Take gate and go ahead with the hedge right.

(10) After a second set of overhead power lines take wide gap and bend right with the hedge left. Pass through one field and, in a vast second field, go with the hedge left - do not take gaps left. Just 30 paces before the end of the field, after a bench seat by a large tree, take a wooden bridge over the stream left.

Go ahead up the field with the hedge right. Exit the field by the far right corner gap to B4090 road. Go right on the road for 40 paces and take Coughton Lane left.

(11) Follow the lane for 1 mile to come to down to main A435. Cross the road at pedestrian lights to find the travellers monument outside the National Trust Coughton Court. (E)
