Description

Park your car at crossroads with Trentishoe village and the steep descent on the right (signpost with 16% slope).

(S/E) From the end of the car park, follow the grassy path along the low wall which leads to the South West Coast path. Turn left "Coast path, Combe Martin". Continue for half a mile until you join another junction signpost.

(1) Follow again "Coast Path, Combe Martin 4m". This rocky path becomes a bit wider and slightly bends left close to Sherrycombe.

(2) When you reach another junction signpost, go up "County Road" for almost 100 metres.

(3) Pay attention, at the next intersection there is no indication but you need to bear left, then quickly right when you see a low wall in ruins. Ascend this narrow path for 600 metres until you reach the top of Holdstone Hill.
The views of the surrounding hills and valleys are really beautiful! continue straight down for 450 metres (heading to the properties far away) until you reach a small car park next to Moorlands. Cross over the road and take the track in front of you.

(4) Descend the track for 650 metres until you see a small signpost with an arrow. Leave the track and bear left. This narrow path enters in woods after a few yards and becomes much steeper, muddy and slippery during wet conditions!

(5) When the path levels and reaches another one, turn left. Follow this flat and quiet path in the woods until you join a direction signpost.

(6) Go down on your right "Hunter's inn, Heale". The path descends across woods for 200 metres and leads to a road. Turn left on this road a few metres, then turn right on the track.

(7) At the junction, continue straight ahead "Footpath Hunter's inn".

(8) Follow this flat way a second time at the next junction (go straight) until you reach a footbridge on your right. Cross it, then go up next to the property and turn left onto the track you join. Walk this track for 600 metres until you reach a road.

(9) Bear left, cross the bridge and turn right to the gate with "Harry's Orchard" signpost. Walk the path in the valley until you bear left and ascend to "Coast Path, Combe Martin 6m".

(10) This is a steep section but the view from the path which overlooks Heddon's Cleave is totally worth it! Walk around Peter Rock admiring Heddon's Mouth Beach down below and Wales on the other bank of Bristol Channel during clear days! Continue the coastal path carefully due to the cliff edge still following "Coast Path, Combe Martin" for one kilometre when you see the signpost.

(11) When you reach a junction signpost with "Permitted Path, County Road", take this direction, go across the open meadow until you join the road. Turn right ascending this road which leads to the car park. (S/E)
