Start: Braithwaite school courtyard. (Nearby postcode CA12 5TD) Grid ref. NY 232 237
(S/E) Exit the car park and turn left to join the main road (B5292).
(1) Turn right and stay on B5292 for a few hundred meters.
(2) Turn left to cross the bridge, then right to continue on the path following the river. Continue until seeing a small footbridge decorated with Tibetan flags.
(3) Cross the bridge to join the road.
(4) Take immediately left on the small path until reaching a wide track (around 400 m).
(5) Turn left and follow the path going to the bottom of the valley with Coledale Beck river on your left had-side. Continue on this path until reaching the abandoned Fort Crag Mine (around 2.9 Km).
(6) Turn left (South) down to cross the stream, careful some days the current can be strong. Then begin the steady and sometimes steep climb to the Coledale Hause. (around 2 Km)
(7) Take right to take the path going in the direction of Grisedale Pike. Continue on this path until reaching Grisedale Pike summit. (around 2 Km).
(8) From Grisedale Pike summit take the path (Sleet How) descending towards Braithwaite village (East). Continue on this path until reaching a disused quarry.
(9) Then continue going down until reaching the main road.
(10) Turn right on the B5292 to arrive on the starting path (4) and go back to the car park (S/E) .
