Useful Information

Transport: You can park at Hetton Lyons Country Park. To return the start of the walk, take Go North East Bus 71 to either Gillas Lane/Copt Hill followed by a 35 minute walk back to the car park, or stay on the 71 and change buses at Houghton Church. The Violet 55 or X-Lines X1 will drop you at Houghton Road/Regent Street where it is a 15 minute walk otherwise Cherry 35 will drop you at Caroline Street/Market Street where it is a 10 minutes walk to the car park. This bus also passes Rainton Bridge Industrial Estate for Rainton Meadows if you started the walk there. Note I have ended the walk in at this point purely for transport links, however if combining sections, just enjoy the views.

Facilities: There is a cafe and toilets at Hetton Lyons Country Park. There are no further facilities on the walk.

Accessibility: Sections of the walk are across fields and therefore the walk may not be accessible to all.

Accommodation: Sharpley Campsite is located on Salter's Lane between (5) and the end of the walk. Grass pitches are available as well as pods with hot tubs although you will need your own bedding.
