England Coast Path - Seaton Carew to Teesmouth (Circular Walk)

This walk starts at the Clock Tower in Seaton Carew and follows a rural path around Seaton Snook. It follows the Hartlepool Borough Council suggested walk Seaton Snook Stroll, but if combined with other sections of the England Coast Path continue West at (5)

Description

(S) With the clock tower behind you turn left and follow the main road (Tees Road) out of Seaton Carew past the golf course.

(1) After the golf course entrance, go left through an A frame barrier onto the bridle path.
Walk along this path until you reach North Gare car park.

(2) Pass through another A frame barrier onto the golf course (take care here) and turn left.

(3) A path will branch to the right, take it (the path ahead will take you to Teesmouth/North Gare Breakwater if you wish to go to the beach - afterwards return to branch in the path and turn left). Walk through the Teesmouth Nature Reserve until you reach the factory.

(4) Go through the A frame barrier and turn right onto Zinc Works Road (tarmac).
Walk down Zinc Works Road until you reach the Y junction.

(5) Go through the gate on your right to access Seaton Dunes and Common Local Nature Reserve and walk across the common following the grass footpath crossing the road to North Gare car park until you reach the bridle path (1) Retrace your steps along the main road back to the Clock Tower. (E)

Useful Information

  • Transport: Car parking is available next to the clock tower. It is a short walk from Seaton Carew Station and bus Stagecoach 1 stops at the clock tower.
  • Facilities: There are toilets at the clock tower along with cafes.
  • Accessibility: There are A frame barriers which prevent pushchairs and wheelchair access.
  • Terrain: The path over the common can become flooded or waterlogged after heavy rain. There is an alternative permitted footpath which runs alongside the road from(5) , alternatively cross the main road and follow the tarmac footpath back to the clock tower.
