England Coast Path - Crook Ness to Peasholm
This is a relatively short section which follows grass paths along cliff tops providing views of Scarborough Castle and the spectacular coastline for the entire way. This section ends at Scarborough's North Bay allowing time to enjoy the beach or any of Scarborough's North Bay attractions.

Description
(S) From the parking area at Crook Ness take the path to the right of the stream heading in a southeasterly direction. If you are joining the walk from the previous section, you can take the steps down and up following the Cleveland Way/England Coast Path markers to cut off the corner. If you wish you can visit the rocky beach here
(1) When you reach the cliff edge the path will take a southerly direction along the top of the cliffs. You will pass a reed pond to your right.
(2) Continue along the top of the cliffs in a southerly direction ignoring any paths to your right.
(3) The path will then take a southeasterly direction passing an information board for Scalby Lodge Pond. Continue in this direction until you reach Scalby Ness. The path follows a ridge and then descends some steps. At the bottom of the steps cross the footbridge to Old Scalby Mills.
(4) At the end of the footbridge turn left onto the North Bay Promenade. You will pass the Sealife Centre on your right, then the entrance to the North Bay Miniature Railway which you can take instead of completing the walk. To complete the walk on foot, continue along the promenade or walk onto the beach. Alternatively, from the railway station, follow the footpath to Northstead Manor Gardens (closed when there is a show on at the theatre). This path will emerge opposite the entrance to Peasholm Park.
(5) Continue in a southerly direction past the colourful beach huts until you reach a new development of shops and apartments. Turn right and walk along the road to the entrace to Scarborough Open Air Theatre. Cross the road using the pedestrian crossing to the entrance at Peasholm Park (E).

Useful Information
Transport: This is a relatively short walk and can easily be combined with other stages. However there is a small parking area at Crook Ness. There is also paid parking at Peasholm Park and along the North Bay seafront. Bus X94 to Middlesbrough leaves from the stop outside Peasholm Park and stops at the Three Jolly Sailors PH in Burniston from where you will need to walk down Rocks Lane/Field Lane back to the parking area at the start of the walk. This bus starts at Scarborough Railway Station.
Facilities: There is nothing at the beginning of the walk. The Old Scalby Mills serves food. Public toilets are located by the beach huts and there are a number of cafes and shops at the end of the walk on the North Bay promenade and near the entrance to Peasholm Park. Food is also served at the Three Jolly Sailors in Burniston.
Accessibility: This walk is along open cliff tops over grass footpaths at field boundaries. The walk also includes steps down to a footbridge. The section from Old Scalby Mills to Peasholm Park is flat and paved.

This walk can also be made into a circular walk starting and ending at Peasholm Park. Walk all the way through Peasholm Park, under Peasholm Glen Bridge and pick up the Cinder Track which follows the old Scarborough to Whitby railway track. The Cinder Track crosses Field Lane at Burniston, there is an exit from Cinder Path here, take the ramp and walk back under the Cinder Track towards Crook Ness.
