Description

(S/E) Leaving Lime Kiln Gill car park, take the path leading towards the beach. this will circle around the outcrop and then drop down to Denemouth. You can check out the beach either now or on your return.

(1) There is a bridge over Castle Eden Burn, check the water situation as the other path crosses the water with no bridge. Cross the bridge, you will see a tarmac road at the other side of Denemouth. Check out the viaduct, you can walk up to this to access Castle Eden Dene.

(2) When you reach the tarmac road, you will see a gap in the wall to your left and a signboard, take this path up to the top of the cliffs. This initially follows a northeast direction then turns sharply right in a south east direction.

(3) When you reach the path/steps down to the beach, explore if you wish, othewise continue on the coast path on a southeasterly direction. The path will turn right at Blue House Gill.

(4) Turn left and look down Blue House Gill, turn right away from the coast path and turn right again. Follow the track parallel to the railway line until you reach the industrial estate, bear right and follow the path along the side of the fence.

(5) When you reach the allotments, turn left (southwest) and at the junction keep right and then turn right to follow the tarmac road down to (2) from where you can retrace your steps to the car park (S/E).
