(S/E) With the car park entrance in your back, walk towards the lane in front of you. At the junction take off the path off the road on your left towards the Great Glen Way blue sign. Walk down the hill through an iron gate. The path goes down the hill with the stream on your left-hand side. At some stage, cross the stream and go up the hill with the stream on your right-hand side following the blue sign designating a great walk.
(1) Eventually, you are reaching a concrete bridge over the stream before going up the hill to encounter a junction with a blue wooden post. (3) Here, turn left here, after enjoying the view over Loch Ness. Walk down the hill towards the loch. The path curves right before reaching an iron gate.
Go through the gate. Now you can spot Loch Ness on your left-hand side behind the trees. At the junction with a wide forest track, take a small detour left to enjoy the view over the loch. Otherwise, turn right up the hill to continue. Be careful, this is a forest logging area with machinery in action. Now the path goes up the hill through pine trees.
(2) When you see a path junction on your right, take the path sharp right with the blue signpost. Now you are walking with your back facing the gate as you go up the hill. Keep right at the iron gate, do not go through it, go past the right of it following the blue wooden post.
Now you can go through the iron gate in front of you following a wire fence on your left. Go through a second iron gate left then keep straight ahead. After a while, you will leave the woods to an open area with a view of Loch Ness on your right.
(3) Carry straight on into the trees before you get to the junction where you came from at the start with the blue wooden signpost. This time, turn left and walk back down to cross the concrete bridge over the river, and walk back up to your car. (S/E)
