Dartmoor's view

Description

From A386, turn right to Crapstone, you will find a free car park in the meadow after the cattle grid (close to Dartmoor Bakery and Rockin Bikes)

(S/E) From the car park, follow the National Cycle Network 27 going down until the road you will cross to ''The Old Station" (No through road sign). You are now in Horrabridge, an old thriving mining village you can visit. At the end of the road, continue on Drake's trail. After a first bridge and a cattle grid, cross the graceful modern Gem bridge above the river Walkham (read interesting historic explanations about the old railway viaduct).

(1) From this fork, bear left then a few meters after the wooden bridge, don't miss the small gate on your left which leaves drake's trail. (follow purple Datmoor way). Descend this small path through the wood (always keep right), follow this along the meadow which reaches a road. Cross this road to the dead-end in front of you which leads to the path on the right. Continue following the purple sign path on the left reaching to the River Walkham. You will see an old smokestack on your way. Enjoy this peaceful place along the river and look at these stunning beech trees! Past the house, go upright on the track with old phone box on your left. At the top of the track turn left down on another one. When you are back close to the river, ascend gently right avoiding rocky's area which leads the confluence with River Tavy.

(2) Then, bear left and take the wooden bridge crossing over river Walkham and turn immediately left on the track going up during 1mile. At the car park, follow the large grassy path along the hedge.

(3) Go straight and then turn right just before you reach a bench. Once again straight on this flat, large and grassy path overlooking the valley and Dartmoor tors.

(4) When you reach a crossroads, enter straight the path on the right of the direction post. From this point go straight in the meadow, don't go up or down, you will finally reach the road leading to your car.(S/E)
