(S/E) Take path east beside metal gate off Carr Mill Road towards the lake. Follow the path beside the lake as it turns north (left) beside the lake.
(1) Take path east (right) as it passes over the causeway. Continue east up the incline on a substantial path through trees. Continue on the path as it passes between hedges then bears east (right) passing around Carters Fold Farm. Continue East on a good quality track. The path bears briefly north before bearing northeast (right).
(2) Continue north on a good quality path turning west (left) immediately after passing the mound on right. Turn north (right) of Garswood Road. Turn east (right) on a substantial path. Turn north (left) in front of farm buildings taking track upslope.
(3) Upon reaching Newton Road carefully cross it and turn east (right). Excellent views in front and right to
Manchester, Cheshire, Mersey Estuary and Welsh Hills. Carefully crossroad to take south (right). Continue south on the path as it bends left around the field boundary. Upon reaching the junction of paths turn briefly east (left). Turn south (right) taking the bridge over the stream. Upon reaching Arch Lane turn briefly east (left).
(4) Leave Arch Lane via pathway southwest (right) across the field.
(5) Exit field and turn northwest (right) along pathway running between field boundaries.
(6) Upon reaching Goyt watercourse, do not cross the footbridge, follow path south (left) along Goyt. Continue southwest on the path through woodland. Continue southwest on Garswood Old Road Exit woodland beside powerboat club and follow the road south beside the lake. Make your way to the edge of the lake to take the path running behind the hotel.
