Walking along Connaught Water

Description

Park your car in Chingford Plain car park.

(S/E) Bear left to the path with a yellow arrow along the summer overflow car park and Chingford Plain. Enter the woods until you reach the first junction. Follow yellow arrows and continue straight for 300 metres before the path bends right. Go straight again for almost one mile ignoring paths both right and left until you join an open field.

(1) At the junction, turn right in Almshouse Plain still following the yellow arrow for 450 metres before you join a fork. Bear right (yellow arrow) for 100 metres before you reach a junction with a yellow and a red arrow signpost.

(2) Turn left when you see two arrows (heading to the opposite way) and slightly right at the next fork. Continue straight this path leading to a T-junction. Then, bear right and go straight for half a mile before you turn left leaving the right curve.

(3) Continue straight for 250 metres before you reach a footbridge on your right. Cross the footbridge and bear right. After 500 metres, you reach a junction signpost.

(4) Turn right "Queen Elizabeth's, Hunting Lodge" walking along Connaught Water. When you reach another junction signpost on the other side of the lake, leave the water edge turning right again "Queen Elizabeth's, Hunting Lodge".

(5) At the next junction, turn left and immediately right still following "Queen Elizabeth's, Hunting Lodge" Continue straight this grassy path which can be pretty muddy during wet conditions. Bear right at the next fork until you join a muddy crossing path.

(6) Go straight ahead heading to the grassy path (often muddy as well!) in front of you which leads to the start and Chingford Plain car park after 350 metres.(S/E)
