Description

(S) Leaving the Buddle, turn left and walk up the road as far as the T junction with the main A3055, which is signposted yellow for traffic stating it is now closed.

Almost opposite is a finger signpost NT30 Niton, which is a narrow path running parallel with the road back to Niton. This has a high stone wall on the left hand side and large vegetation on the right. After a few minutes, you come to two small tunnels, which eventually lead to a pathways T junction with the Blue Waymarked coastal path.

(1) Go straight if you wish to return immediately to Niton. For a diversion of no more than 15-20 minutes, turn right along the coast path. Heading away from Niton, spectacular views of the coast are on your right, with the Undercliff landslip immediately below.

(2) After a while, you come to a fingerpost with a sharp left 45º turn, N27 back to Niton. As if by magic, the village suddenly reappears on the horizon, hidden beneath the contours of the Downs.

(3) Follow the path (straight over at a 5-way path junction) and appear back into the village, turning right to appear at the White Lion. (E)
