Description

Start : Succoth car park, Arrochar G83 7AP

(S/E) From the car park entrance, turn right on the pavement up to the first road junction. Cross the road (A83) with care on follow The Chalet road up the hill on your left with your back to the loch. Please use the safe pavement on the left of the road and the housing right.

Follow the road (Glen Loinn Crescent) as it curves right ignoring the footpath on your left (this will be the way you will come back from).

(1) At the Y road junction keep left towards "Glen Loin" as it is mentioned on the wooden signpost located on your left. You now have the red mailbox right. Walk straight ahead between houses, at the two next junctions keep straight going towards the lane in front of you. Walk along this lane parallel with the electric pylons on your right hand.

(2) The lane will curve left to reach a junction with a sign "Private driveway" where you turn right walking through the iron gate. Walk along this track. At some stage, go through the wooden stile right of the gate, you still have the electric pylons on your right-hand side.

(3) When you reach a path junction with the 3 white poles in front of you, turn right here. Pass under the eletric pylons. Walk along then go left of the gate through the iron stile. Be careful you are going to enter a shooting area "falling clays". Pass in front of the shooting stalls going straight and staying alert! You are still following the electric pylons. At the end of the shooting area, you reach a single track. This part can be really muddy.

(4) When you reach a junction entering the woods, you can go either way, both paths are going to the falls. Follow the path through the tree, be careful of the roots and go towards the sound of the water. Walk up towards the waterfall and stream ahead of you.

Here you can walk back to the car park using the same path. If you are confident enough, you can try hunting the caves ! Try to follow the path left to the waterfall. At some stage, it curves left up the hill away from it. Carry on up the hill trying to find your way and the caves. It can be really slippery so stay alert please!

When you are done with the hunt or enjoying the falls and woods, walk back to the clay shooting area. Then back to the junction at waypoint (2) where you saw the first "Private driveway" sign and iron gate. At this junction, instead of going left towards where you came from, turn right up the hill on the forest track. Go pass the iron gate. Be careful if work is still in progress! Follow this wide forest path up the hill, it will flatten then go up again through the forest.

(5) Now stay alert, when the track curves up right, find a footpath going left down the hill. Walk straight through this nice woodland. At a junction carry straight on the path left hand. At the next junction go down the hill ignoring the path up to the reservoirs. Keep this single track with the river right all the way to the road junction (Glen Loinn Crescent). This is the road you came from at the start. Now turn right on the pavement and walk back to the car park. (D/A/)
