Dog-friendly circular walk around Ennerdale water. This is a lovely and not too popular lake in the west part of the Lake District.
Description
Start: Bleach Green Car Park (CA23 3AS) Grid ref. NY 085 153
(S/E) From the car park, pass the gate to enter the little wood and arrive on a large rocky path. Continue on this path East until reaching the beginning of Ennerdale water and a weir (around 300 m). Do not take the bridge on the right.
(1) Instead go straight (right-hand) passing the weir and taking the path along the shore of Ennerdale water (the water should be on your left hand side). Continue straight on that path.
(2) After around 1Km, there is a bit of scrambling at the level of Angler's Crag. Nothing too hard. Keep to the higher path that goes between the rock and avoid taking the path on the edge overhanging the water. Then continue straight along the shore until reaching the end of the lake and crossing fields (around 3.6 Km).
(3) At the end of the fields, take left (North) after passing the gate to go in the direction of the river. Cross the bridge.
(4) Take left (West) on the forest road. Continue straight following the shore of Ennerdale water for around 2.7 Km.
(5) Near Bowness Car park you have the choice to take the larger path passing by the car park or the smaller path along the shore. Both paths join to follow the shore of the lake. Continue straight on the path until arriving at the weir back to the waypoint (1). Cross the bridge and take right to go back to the car park. (S/E)

Terrain: Mix of moderate rocky path, a section near Angler's Crag that require a bit of scrambling and large forest tracks.
Dog-friendly: Can have some sheeps in the fields at the far end of the lake. Dog must be keep on lead when crossing fields with livestock.

I thoroughly enjoyed this walk on a chilly day. It was icy in places and the route was easy to follow.
The scramble up the rocks was fun.
After the bridge I had followed the forest road for a bit and the app alerted me that I was 90m off the route which was super helpful for getting me back on track as I was walking on my own.
I took just over 3 hours 20 mins as I stopped loads to take photos.
Would be a lovely walk to do in summer and follow it with a swim. There were two brave souls today who swam (-1degree!).
My first time using this app and I’m very impressed.
