(S/E) From the bus station/Eden Bar, walk towards the traffic lights and turn left. Follow the footpath along the roadside.
(1) At the roundabout, turn left onto Passfield Way passing Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church on your right, cross the road and turn into Grampian Drive. Continue down Grampian Drive until you reach Wadham Road on your left, take the path directly opposite the junction (northwest) and follow the path behind the houses.
(2) When you reach the gates to Woodhouse Park, turn left (west) and follow the path behind the houses to Howletch Lane Primary School, turn right and walk alongside the school fence.
(3) When you reach a footpath into the school on your right, take the path to your left between the houses, cross Pennine Drive and continue on the path between the houses. This will meet with a path running alongside the A19, turn left (south), continue along this path until you emerge in Old Shotton, the Royal George pub will be on your left and the Black Bull on your right.
(4) After 100m you should see the entrance to Shotton Hall on your left, if the gates are open, enter the grounds of Shotton Hall and follow the road to the hall. At the car park exit, you will see a footpath on your right, take this path which will emerge on Passfield Way. Cross the road ind Durham Way and continue walking south. Note: if the gates to Shotton Hall are closed, contine walking down The Green until you reach the roundabout, turn left and walk along Passfield Way until you reach the junction with Durham Way, turn right and walk down Durham Way.
(5) After 300m, turn left (east) onto a footpath which runs behnd the houses. Continue on this footpath until it reaches Bywell Drive, continue in an easterly direction until you reach Oakerside Drive.
(6) Turn left and continue along Oakerside Drive. This becomes Sunny Blunts, turn left Sunny Blunts flats (19-29), walk past the garages, then turn right at the end of the garages to pick up another path, turn left onto this path. After about 50m you will see the viewing platform for the Apollo Pavillion. Continue for another 20m and then turn left.
(7) Follow the path underneath the Apollo Pavillion then turn right, follow the path keeping right back to the town centre. This follows the edge of the wooded area and passes Sunny Blunts Park the cricket ground on the left. The path then turns north, then west, then north and then northeast, stay on this bearing until you reach Burnhope Way. Turn right and then right again at the traffic lights back to the bus station (S/E).
