Description

Start : Everholm Car Park, 22 Battery St, Annan (DG12). Grid ref. NY 191 666

(S/E) From the car park entrance, take right (North-North-West) on the path that follows river Annan on your left-hand side. This path goes straight to Brydekirk village.

Walk on the riverside for around 2.5 Km. On the way, (around 1.3 Km from the start) the path passes under the big A75 bridge. Pass below that bridge and continue straight following the riverside.

(1) Arriving at a little building, the path stops. Bypass this little building, by going through the gate and then following the path that goes around it. Then, find the path that continues along the shore of the river.

Follow it straight as it enters a little wood and another one, still following the riverside.

(2) Exit the wood following the path becoming a concrete road to pass through several cottages. Continue on that road until reaching the main road (Bridge Street) of Brydekirk.

(3) On Bridge Street, take left to cross the river. Take left directly after the bridge, along River Street, following the Annandale Way. Continue for a short portion on Mans Cres.

(4) Take the gate on the left, to find again the riverside path (which is the Annandale Way) along River Annan on your left-hand side.

From here, walk around 5 Km along the riverside. On the way, pass under the A75 bridge again, and continue straight along the river.

(5) After 5 Km, leave the path to take the stairs on the side of the B721 road bridge. At the top of the bridge, go left to cross it. Then, take the road on the left of the Blue Bell Inn pub that goes down back to the car park. (S/E)
