(S/E) Leaving the car park turn left onto the road for a short distance, past the house on your right until you see the footpath signposts. You want to take the one that directs you straight up the field.
(1) From there it is simple to follow the signposts onto the SW Coast Path to Dodman Point. The views are brilliant and you will have a lovely view of Vault beach to your left. Carrying on around the headland you will not be able to miss the stone cross. What you might miss is the old watch house and the nearby trig point which will be to your right as you pass the stone cross.
(2) Continue on until you come to the point where the path meets the Bulwark.
(3) Turn right onto the path. It is easily identifiable as you pass an open field on your left and the Bulwark walk is a well defined wide grass path, bounded on each side by fairly steep embankments - especially to your right where the earthworks for the ancient fort are substantial.
(4) At the end of this stretch you will see the signpost back to Penare. A nice gentle stroll back to the car park. (S/E)
It possible to explore further so then took the path opposite the car park heading downhill to Hemmick Beach. A very straightforward, easy to follow route that is well used. Coming back up requires a bit more effort, but the quiet beach is worth it. There is no official parking there so it remains quiet.
